About Optimist International School

Optimist International School is a new public primary school in Hoofddorp which is near Amsterdam (municipality of Haarlemmermeer) and will open its doors on January 8, 2018. The international school will be an integrated part of De Optimist, a Dutch primary school with approximately 300 students. Basic thought for the development of the international department is full integration with the current Dutch school eventually. We want to bring all our students together and share activities when possible and work separately when needed. The school is subsidised by the Dutch government, which enables us to deliver high quality education for a reasonable fee. Optimist International School is a school for children who need to be educated in English to ensure continuity of education. Being a member of Dutch International Schools (DIS) we welcome children of all nationalities and backgrounds. The school offers an international programme in English for students between the ages of 4 and 11. We will work with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), an international curriculum providing a cross-curricular, thematic and creative teaching structure designed to engage children of all abilities in today’s world.

Vision statement ‘Together we bring out your inner magic’

We welcome children in a spirit of understanding and tolerance in a multicultural school and a caring community that supports them to become a compassionate committed global citizen. We feel it’s exciting to learn. Growing by learning is at the core of everything we do. We challenge children to realise their full potential and provide opportunities to discover and develop their unique talents. We support them to be responsible for and committed to their own learning. We believe education is a combined effort of parents, students, teachers and a community working together. We provide a healthy sporty environment and encourage decent behaviour.
