We like to see learning as a hike through the mountains. Some children are faster and get to the top quicker, some children would like to see the view and explore the environment and some children need help from other children. The point is to get to the top as a class, as a team and to all learn from this journey, all the while tending to individual stimulus and needs.
At Optimist International School children will experience and explore the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The IPC is a curriculum that, for one part, leaves education to the imagination of the children with the guidance of the teacher. IPC focuses on developing knowledge, skills and understanding of subjects set within child–friendly, relevant, cross–curricular thematic units of work that are both creative and challenging for children of all abilities. IPC is approved by the Dutch Ministry of Education and is established in over 530 schools in over 50 countries around the world.
As a member of the Dutch International Schools the curriculum framework in our primary schools meets the Dutch educational legislation standards. There is also the connection with the mother school, which is conform to Dutch education and the Dutch language. We use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the British National Curriculum for language and mathematics. Furthermore, we offer English Additional Language (EAL) support.
