End of Year Reflections & Looking Ahead to 2025–2026
As we wrap up another inspiring year at Optimist International School, we celebrate a time of growth, learning and connection — and look ahead with excitement to what’s next.
A Year of Milestones
With 270 students from 35+ nationalities and a growing team of 47 staff, our community continues to thrive. Two major milestones stood out:
-
Our phased relocation to Dussenstraat, offering improved facilities, play areas, and shared space with the future international secondary school.
-
The approval of IGVO, an international secondary school set to open in 2026–2027, completing a full 0–18 learning pathway.
Learning in Action
This year, students dove into hands-on inquiry projects, musical and cultural events, sports tournaments, and creative challenges. From “Feel the Beat” in Early Years to Ancient Egypt in Milepost 2 and camps in Milepost 3 — learning was active, joyful and meaningful.
We also launched the Dutch Enrichment Programme, expanded our specialist support (music, language, speech therapy), and deepened our focus on multilingualism.
Student & Parent Voice
The Student Council (Groups 2–8) met monthly to shape school life and co-organised the vibrant Magical Miles of Smiles event.
Meanwhile, the Parent Participation Council took on a more active role in governance and events — including the Traffic Safety Committee and Cultural Day.
A special shout-out to Paarth (Group 5A), who will represent OIS in the Floreer Kinderraad next year!
Thank You
We are proud of what we’ve built together — a warm, inclusive and forward-thinking international school. Thank you to all staff, families and partners for your energy and commitment.
Wishing you a joyful, restful summer holiday! 🌞
